Our Little Black Cat

For Halloween this year, I was lazy and didn't want to make anything. So early in October we went to Once Upon a Child and found some cute options for Constance.
 She liked the ladybug costume.
She hated this witch/fairy costume, even though it was sooo cute on her.
But the ultimate winner was the eccentric, multicolored black cat costume. It even had the original tag on and had clearly never been worn.

My plan was to dress up as a mummy with little baby eyes on my tummy peeking out. But between buying a car, planning upcoming birthday parties, coming down with a horrible cold, losing my appetite, and getting very nauseous all over again, it just didn't happen.

Last week, Dan, Melanie, Grandma, and "little Papa" took Constance to Boo at the Zoo.

Then this week for Halloween, we went to our ward's Trunk or Treat/chili cookoff on the day before Halloween then to Grandma and Grandpa's ward's Trunk or Treat on Halloween. We got good use out of that little cat costume and Constance collected lots of candy.

At our ward, they had games for the kids to play. The problem is that Constance was more interested in exploring everything that was going on and wouldn't stand in line so she could play games. Instead, she would try to take over for the kid who was at the front of the line. Or she would try to take the game apart into pieces so she could see how everything ticked. Typical toddler behavior.
She did get to see her little "boyfriend" though, who was dressed up as a dashing pirate. Oh, and that huge water spot on Tom's pants is from when Constance snatched the plastic tablecloth off the table, tipping a cup of water over.
Constance was very excited about her stash when we got home and very quickly figured out the secret to unraveling the candy wrappers.
But she wasn't too impressed about the lollipop she chose and gave it back to me after a few licks.
Daddy collected his taxes.

Then on Halloween it was back to trunk or treating, this time with Grandma and Grandpa.
Constance seemed to think that the key word for Halloween was "Thank you" instead of "Trick or treat." She said thank you to everyone who gave her candy and I caught her practicing the routine while she was falling asleep later that night.

I can't believe that next year we will have not one, but two little munchkins to dress up.
