A Tofurky Christmas

Although I was once a pretty strict vegetarian, I've actually never had a Tofurky . . . until recently.

It started with some light-hearted joking before Thanksgiving.
But then on Thanksgiving day when I showed up without a blob of tofu in hand, I quickly realized that I had made a mistake.

So to make amends for that Thanksgiving oversight, I went out the week of Christmas and bought the long joked about, talked about, laughed about Tofurky.

Then I wrapped it in festive wrapping paper and put it in a box. Then I wrapped that box and set it under the Christmas tree.

This happy little note was under the first layer of wrapping paper.
Followed by this warning.
And then there was the little Tofurky. It was met with lots of laughs and nervous grins.
Christmas dinner looked ever so delicious that night.
And the new addition to the menu turned out surprisingly plump, juicy, and ever so slightly tofu-like.
 He was a good sport.
A few others tried it as well and admitted that it tasted better than it sounded.

Tom thought it was the best thing ever and wants Tofurky to return to the holiday dinner table next year.

I'm perfectly fine with that.
But I do enjoy having a real piece of turkey once in a while.
And I do still enjoy my tofu without any meat flavoring.
